In order to keep each tire in perfect operating condition, you need to routinely check the tire pressure, which is measured in PSI, because a tire that is not properly inflated can cause some major issues, even accidents. Your vehicle’s maintenance manual will list the required PSI, so all you need to do is make sure that each tire stays at that PSI by checking the pressure on at least a monthly basis and every time you intend to drive for more than a hundred miles straight.

It will also help a tire out quite a bit to be safeguarded from direct sunlight, so putting your car in a garage or covering it when it is parked for a long time is a great idea. You should absolutely heed this particular piece of advice if you have a car that doesn’t get driven much.

Every driver must get into the habit of routinely inspecting each and every tire for any punctures or abrasions and to make sure that the tread is still at an even, safe thickness. Anytime something seems to be physically damaged on the wheel, it is a smart idea to bring it by a mechanic for a better look. It could just be time for a new set, because no matter how much care you take to extend their life, you will eventually have to replace your car’s tire set.
