There are a number of things you can do to lower your uric acid naturally and this will general help you with your gout.

The first thing you need to understand is what is uric acid and how did my uric acid levels get this high? Uric acid is basically a chemical that occurs when your body breaks down a substance called purines. You get purines from some foods. Some of the foods that purines are found in are red meat, liver, seafood, anchovies, beans and sugary sweets. Alcohol has purines too. Beer and wine are known to have purines in them as well. When you are consuming these foods the purines are entering your body. If your body is producing too much uric acid or it’s not removing it by passing through your kidneys, then this is when you start having a problem. The problem is crystals start forming around your joints and swelling and pain occurs, as this is the gout.

Lowering uric acid can be as simple as cutting out some of the foods that are high in purines. You can also eat more of the foods that are lower in purines. Eating a healthier diet can reduce the uric acid. Stay away from alcohol until you can get your uric acid under control, then just occasionally have a glass of wine or beer. Another thing you can do is take in more Vitamin C. There are many doctors claiming that Vitamin C will help lower your uric acid.

You can choose foods that are lower in uric acid. Some of these foods are low-fat and fat-free cheese, fruit, lettuce, tomatoes, eggs and many more other foods. There are plenty of foods that don’t have the high purines. You won’t be starving, but you will still be able to enjoy many foods and still controlling the purines and in effect your uric acid.

There are ways to lower your high uric acid without having to turn to medication immediately. I suggest trying a few of these methods before turning to the numerous drugs available out there.
