Unplanned pregnancies may result in a new precious life coming into the world, but that doesn’t change that they can be terribly risky. In fact, there are a number of reasons for immediate concern once you learn that you are unexpectedly expecting, from being financial unprepared to major health risks for the fetus and yourself. The following are just some of the risks associated with becoming pregnant and having no knowledge of the conception, such as having to mutter the phrase “adopt my baby.”
The first concern a mother tends to have for her unborn son or daughter is whether or not they are healthy, which can be even more overwhelming when you were not given time to prepare your body for gestation. The first weeks of development are the most crucial for your child’s neurological functioning. A woman whose body is not prepared for a growing child can have some many adverse effects on a young fetus.
A developing fetus requires a certain amount of vitamins and nutrients to become happy healthy human beings. If you are unaware that you’re pregnant, chances are that you have not been making sure to get such nutrients. When you plan for your pregnancy, you can take all the vitamins you need to make sure your baby gets everything they could possibly need.
In an even more unfortunate circumstance, a baby’s problem might not be what mama’s body lacks, but what mama’s body takes in that should not be exist. Women who are currently taking prescribed drugs or using alcohol or tobacco might not know that they are pregnant and continue to take in these harmful substances. These things can be terribly harmful for the baby, but you won’t know to stop if you don’t know you’re pregnant.
Raising a baby can be remarkably costly, and when you are not planning to raise a baby anytime soon, it is quite likely that you don’t have the financial stability necessary to do so. One of the most frightening things for some mothers is to become pregnant and have no idea of how they will financially support the baby for the next eighteen years or more.
It should go without saying that unplanned pregnancies are bad news for mama and baby, even when it feels like good news, because there is so much to be concerned with all at once. Unless you want to ask for someone to “adopt my baby,” or even worse, “save my baby,” don’t let yourself become a mother by surprise.
